Christmas at Walt Disney World - The most magical time of year at the most magical place on earth!
As we already know, Walt Disney World is an amazing place. Mix in some holiday cheer, and you’re in for an magical experience that only Disney can create. From the snowfall on Main Street to the life sized Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian, Christmas magic is EVERYWHERE in the Parks and resorts. Park restaurants and smaller food venues are resplendent with holiday cheer for your taste buds ... you’ll want to try them all!
For those that say “I want to go during Christmas but it’s too busy”, I have good news - that’s not necessarily true! Towards the end of November and mid-December, the crowd levels aren’t as high. You still get the full Christmas experience even going weeks before the holidays!
The Christmas spirit of Disney extends beyond the parks, as the resorts are fully decorated and have so much to enjoy. My personal favorite is the life sized gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. You can literally smell the gingerbread as you walk through the doors. It’s a sight you won’t want to miss! Don't forget to walk around the Gingerbread House, where you'll actually find a little snack stand inside, where they will sell you gingerbread of course!
Another favorite Holiday experience beyond the parks is Fort Wilderness’ sleigh ride through the campgrounds. Campers at The Fort go all out during the holidays! During this experience, a horse and buggy take you around the camp grounds to view all the lights and decorations put up by campers! It's such a unique way to see the magic of Disney!
But my favorite of them all is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party! This awesome event starts at 7pm but allows entry as early as 4pm! It is a hard ticketed event separate from admission, and well worth it. There are several things exclusive to the party you won't experience otherwise at the Magic Kingdom. From the hot cocoa and cookies, free to guests around every corner, to unique character greetings and awesome entertainment, this Christmas party boasts with holiday cheer! Disney also has special treats available during the party that you can’t get any other time! Classic characters are dressed in their holiday best, not to mention rare appearances from characters like Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws! Don’t miss out on saying hello to your favorite Disney pals during the Once Upon A Christmastime parade! Then to end the night is, Holiday Wishes! This is truly a firework spectacular over Cinderella’s Castle.
Magic Kingdom isn’t the only park with a holiday celebration... Head over to Hollywood Studios to watch Sunset Seasons Greetings on The Tower of Terror as it projects a colorful show to ring in the season! You can also indulge in tasty desserts and specialty drinks at the Jingle Bell Jingle Bam holiday desert party!
Lastly, for a celebration that will take around the world, head to Epcot! Discover treasured seasonal recipes from around the globe at special kiosks throughout World Showcase. In the evening, experience the story of Christmas told by a celebrity narrator, accompanied by an orchestra and choir of hundreds! And finally, at the end of the night, don’t miss IllumiNations, a holiday presentation of spectacular fireworks, laser and waterworks extravaganza!
In short, Disney at Christmas is an absolute must! No matter the age, you’re in for a magical time!
