I was never more excited to see a new character experience than I was when breakfast opened up at Trattoria al Forno last spring! Nestled amongst the lovely shops at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, you’ll find a plethora of delicious food choices at this restaurant, as well as Ariel, Prince Eric, Rapunzel, and Flynn Rider.
If you go to Disney, you’ll notice there are very few character meet and greets with the princes of Disney, so I was especially excited to meet my childhood crush, Prince Eric. ::swoon:: This is actually the only location on property to meet these two princes.
The food was delicious – your table will start with a basket of pastries to share, and everyone can choose their favorites from an ala carte menu. I had the Royale Breakfast, which featured a steak, egg torte, and breakfast potatoes. I loved the small touches on everything – do you recognize that sun on the stack of pancakes?
The character interactions here are amazing! Flynn Rider was hilarious (and check out that smolder!) My daughter absolutely loved meeting Rapunzel and Ariel. Ariel even stopped to chat to my littlest one during breakfast, who was just a “guppy” (her words!) at the time.
Now, let’s talk logistics –
We were not staying at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn during our visit, and usual protocol for Disney transportation dictates that for a resort-to-resort trip, you’ll need to first head to a nearby park to switch buses. However, that can take an hour or more, so you’ll need to either plan ahead for a later breakfast, Enjoy a ride in a Minnie-Van, or grab an Uber/Lyft. Any of these options will cut down on your commute time significantly. We opted for a cab, and went from Caribbean Beach to Boardwalk Inn in 10 minutes, for about a $10 fare.
What about after breakfast?
If you can spare the time, I recommend checking out the resort and other shops along the Boardwalk (grab a cupcake or cappuccino from the Boardwalk bakery!)
I recommend pairing this amazing breakfast with an Epcot day because you can walk (yes, really!) over to Epcot from the resort. It’s a pleasant 10-minute stroll over to the International Gateway, which puts you in World Showcase. Or, you can grab a bus from the front of the resort to another one of Disney’s fabulous parks.
I was nothing short of pleased with our meal experience. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for both the food and the characters!
